Good luck, to the struggling masses and the miners in Bolivia. We at Kumpel für AUF are the militant wing of the miners’ movement in Germany, and we are also a member organisation of the International Miners’ Coordination (www.minersconference.org). We publicised your struggle at the closing event of the 22nd International Whitsun Youth Meeting and during our discussion on the role of mining and miners for the future of humanity. There, it was unanimously decided to send you our full solidarity with your struggle.
We declare our solidarity with your struggle and your justified demands, and call for the immediate release of all arrested demonstrators. We demand the immediate withdrawal of the arrest warrant against your leader Mario Argollo and other trade union leaders from the Central Obrera Boliviana (COB) trade union federation, which has called for a general strike. As we have gathered from the press, the issue is now about much more than social rights, petrol prices and occupational safety concerns. We wholeheartedly support the main demand that your President must step down. He came to power as a champion of capitalism and a staunch opponent of socialism.
It is good that your struggle has reignited a broad debate amongst the Bolivian people about the alternative and the future of society. We are very keen to see how this turns out. We stand for the struggle to transform society, for overcoming capitalist and imperialist exploitation and oppression; for many of us, this is true socialism. At the 3rd International Miners’ Conference in Thuringia, we resolved that no struggle should stand alone. We have also joined the United Front against Fascism, War and Environmental Destruction. We want to build a force superior to capitalism and imperialism. Together we can achieve this.
Long live international solidarity!
Let us know how we can support you in practical terms.
Fraternal greetings
Christian Link, spokesperson for Kumpel für AUF
