India: Mine workers in Karnataka today started a 70 KM march (padyatra)

from Sandur to Bellary under the banners of Bellary Zilla Gani Karmika Sangh and AICCTU demanding special rehabilitation package for the workers, re-employment and compensation. Despite passage of over a decade since closure of mines in Bellary, 25000 workers are yet to receive justice. For the next three days (11-13 Oct) there will be a Protest March and Rally from Sandur to Bellary.

The mining companies violated all laws while closing their operations in 2011. They asked the workers not to report to duty, Mine owners made profits and even after ten years workers are struggling for justice and proper compensation.
