Statement of protest to the Tuscaloosa County District Court in the USA

The International Coordination of Mine Workers strongly protests against any restrictions on the right of the union and its members to strike. We also protest against the repression of the strikers - be it by the court, police violence or the mine contractor. The district court's decision stands against the miners' democratic rights and protects those who deny the workers their rightful claims.

The miners have been fighting since April against poor pay, for their outstanding salaries and social benefits. Instead of helping the miners to get their rights, the district court has nothing else in mind but to limit towards the miners their right to strike. We the, International Miners Coordination demand the Tuscaloosa County District Court protect and respect the miners' right to assemble. We will publicize this attack on the union and democratic rights of our American miners worldwide. All of our solidarity goes out to our colleagues from the UMWA miners union. Yours sincerely Andreas Tadysiak Main Coordinator of the International Miners' Coordination
