The Central Coordination Committee of the Miners' Initiative Kumpel für AUF is calling for donations for miners and their families in Ukraine

When asked how we could support miners in Ukraine, a trade union colleague wrote to us:
Many proletarian thanks for your offer to help our miners' union. We have not received any wages for nine months. We are facing a hard, cold winter, which we will probably spend without electricity, as it is not certain whether our town will still have a power station by winter. Since the beginning of September, Russian missiles have been trying to hit power stations that supply towns with heat and electricity.

The International Miners' Coordination informed Kumpel für AUF about the precarious situation of miners in Ukraine and sent us a report from a miner who, along with his union, is part of the International Miners' Coordination:

"We haven't been paid for nine months. We are facing a harsh, cold winter, which we will probably spend without electricity, as it is not certain whether our city will still have a power station by winter.

Since the beginning of September, Russian missiles have been trying to hit power stations in order to cut off the cities' supply of heat and electricity. Many of our miners are struggling to pay their electricity bills for their homes and have high debts for electricity, water, gas and other utilities. The cost of the internet has also become very high. Unfortunately, I cannot always reply to your letters immediately. But I am following your labour dispute very closely."

Solidarity International already supported miners and their families in Ukraine with a donation account from 2022 to 2024. This account is now being reopened.

Long live international solidarity!

Thank you very much for your support!
