Africa: Protest petition of Gozareshgaran

we still witness the traces of barbarity and slavery in our country!
To all trade unions, syndicates and workers organisations! Under circumstances in which Iranian workers are enduring the worst conditions in their lives with low wages which are under the poverty line, the news is that the protesting workers have been penalized with pecuniary punishments. Seventeen workers of Agh Dareh in Takaab gold mine were penalized with lashes. These brutal and inhuman penal laws are reminiscent of slavery and Middle Age period. According to the published reports each of the first five rows of the accused workers are condemned to a hundred lashes and thirty seven months reprimand and the accused workers of the sixth to the eighth row to fifty lashes and thirty seven month reprimand. The absolutist Islamic Regime arrests the workers activists and accuse them for unproven charges to long term imprisonments.
As a result of inhuman prison conditions Jafar Azimsadeh, a workers activist has had no other choice than hunger strike in order to show his protest against the imposed condition in prison. We, workers activists, political activists, social activists, and cultural activists condemn such brutal and inhuman actions of the Islamic Republic against the workers of Agh Dareh gold mine. We appeal to all the workers and progressive organisation for protesting against the unjust and barbarious action of the Islamic Regime agaist the workers in Iran.
