At the rally for International Environment Day on 15 November 2025 in Recklinghausen, Kumpel für AUF Im Vest organised a solidarity campaign (see photo in the appendix). Merab Saralidzes and three other miners have been imprisoned since April on unjustified charges. The aim is to support the struggle of miners and the population of Chiatura to preserve jobs in underground mining and against extremely environmentally damaging open-cast mining. The rally participants adopted the following protest statement:
"We demand the immediate release of the four miners from Chiatura, Georgia, and protest against the endless delays in their trial by judges and authorities. The people of Chiatura need the jobs in manganese mining and processing. They demand safe underground jobs, protection for nature and the population, and are against open-cast mining. We declare our solidarity with your struggle. Your perseverance makes you role models for us.
Good luck and keep up the good work!"
