Dear miners in Chiatura, Georgia!
We, around 40 participants in the action on International Day of Action for the Environment in Duisburg, have learned of the arrest of four of your miners. This is because of your strike to save your jobs and your fight against the environmentally destructive open-pit mining.
You have now been imprisoned for almost seven months!
Don't let yourselves be broken or defeated; your struggle is justified! We stand with you!
Your connection to the international miners' movement is important. This is how your struggle becomes known worldwide, and the workers' movement's vision of a world without exploitation and oppression, where humanity lives in harmony with nature, takes shape!
We strongly protest your arrest and demand:
"Immediate release of the imprisoned miners, cessation of all proceedings! End state repression against the strikers and their families!"
