We have heard that on 14 June, state authorities carried out an armed attack on miners who have been fighting for 26 days for the payment of outstanding wages and benefits, and against redundancies. I myself am a former coal miner with 35 years’ professional experience as an underground electrician and a trade union representative. We, the International Miners’ Coordination, would like to express our solidarity and support to the miners and their families:

The Independent Miners’ Union announced today that the nine-day hunger strike and protests in Ankara have been a success: the miners have secured their demands!
